Message You're right about that. It would be a lot easier for the clutch to hold a 500 hp engine that made 300 lbs of torque than a 400 hp engine that made 600 lbs of torque. The higher HP engine in this case would just be revving higher, which doesn't really have anything to do with the clutch. The clutch is only concerned with friction and torque.
